Frequently asked questions
What is Lucyd?
Lucyd is an onchain prediction markets exchange for short-term Bitcoin price moves. Every market asks whether BTC/USD will be higher at the end of a round than at the start. You buy Up or Down tokens; a winning token pays 1 USDC and a losing one pays nothing. Lucyd currently runs on the Ethereum Sepolia testnet with test USDC.
How do Bitcoin Up/Down markets work?
Each round has a strike: the Pyth BTC/USD price when the round opens. If the price at the end is strictly higher than the strike, Up wins; otherwise Down wins. Token prices move between 0.0025 and 0.9975 USDC and read as the market's probability of that outcome.
How long are the rounds?
5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours and 1 day. Every series runs back to back: a new round opens as soon as the previous one ends, so there is always a market to trade.
How are markets settled?
Automatically, on chain, with the Pyth BTC/USD price published at the round's end time. If no valid price arrives within the settlement window, the market is voided and every Up and Down token redeems for 0.50 USDC.
Are there trading fees?
No. Trading on Lucyd has no fees, and trading needs no gas: the exchange settles matched orders on chain for you. Withdrawals have no fee either.
How do I start trading?
Sign up with email, Google, Telegram or a crypto wallet. A wallet is created for you automatically if you don't have one, with no seed phrase. Then pick a round, choose Up or Down and place an order on the order book.
Is Lucyd custodial?
No. Funds stay in your wallet. When an order fills, the Exchange contract moves exactly the USDC and outcome tokens of that trade. Winning tokens can be redeemed automatically, so payouts land in your wallet without an extra step.
How is Lucyd different from Polymarket and Kalshi?
Lucyd is built only around short Bitcoin Up/Down rounds, from 5 minutes to a day, all on one order book. Markets settle on the Pyth price on chain, there are no trading fees, and the exchange is open to bots and AI agents through a public API and an MCP server.
Can I trade with a bot or an AI agent?
Yes. The REST API and order book WebSocket are public, and orders are signed with EIP-712 by your own key. AI assistants like Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT can trade through the Lucyd MCP server (npx -y @lucyd/mcp), or read market data with no install from the hosted server at https://mcp.lucyd.trade/mcp.
Can I download historical data?
Yes. Trades are available through the API, including CSV export, and the full order book history of every market is free to download as Parquet files at https://data.testnet.lucyd.trade/.
Is there a partner program?
Yes. Partners earn a share of the trading volume of the traders they bring, paid daily in USDC through an onchain contract. The rate grows with monthly volume.
